Police: Woman killed in shooting in St. Paul's Midway neighborhood; suspect in custody

St. Paul police say a suspect is in custody in connection with a shooting in St. Paul's Midway neighborhood that killed a female victim early Wednesday morning.

Dominique Taylor, 20, of St. Paul, was arrested Wednesday morning at Regions Hospital. He is being held at the Ramsey County Jail on suspicion of murder.

According to police, reports came in around 1:15 a.m. of an argument in the area of University Avenue and Asbury Street.

A few minutes later, police learned a woman had been shot and taken to Regions Hospital in a private vehicle. The victim then died at the hospital. 

The victim's identity will be released at a later time.

This is the 17th homicide in St. Paul this year. There were 12 at this time last year, according to a police spokesperson.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone who has information related to this shooting is asked to call the St. Paul Police Department.
