A 17-year-old boy has been charged in connection to a fatal shooting that killed another 17-year-old and injured 19-year-old last week.
According to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office, the teen faces one count of second-degree murder, one count of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of felony possession of a firearm and one count of fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle.
According to the juvenile petition, on Sept. 14, police were called on the report of shots fired at a gas station on Fremont and Dowling avenues in north Minneapolis.
When police arrived, they found a 17-year-old male victim and 19-year-old male victim that had been shot. Both victims were taken to the hospital, where the 17-year-old victim died.
On Thursday, police were conducting surveillance and following the teen suspect. Two marked police cars attempted to stop the teen at the intersection of Seventh Street and Lyndale Avenue North, however, the suspect fled and drove through the North Loop neighborhood.
During the pursuit, the teen threw items from the vehicle, including a gun. Ballistics tested showed the gun the teen threw from the car was used in the shooting.
Police were eventually able to stop the teen's vehicle in Plymouth.
The 17-year-old victim was identified as Andre Conley of Minneapolis.
