On Friday, the Minnesota Twins traded righthanded pitcher José Berrios to the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for two prospects, KSTP Sports confirms.

The Twins receive Toronto's second overall prospect, shortstop/outfielder Austin Martin, and their fourth overall prospect, righthanded pitcher Simeon Woods Richardson in the deal.

Berrios was drafted by the Twins in the first round of the 2012 MLB June Amateur Draft and has spent his entire career with the team. The 27-year-old has pitched in the big league level since 2016, going 55-43 with a 4.08 ERA, four complete games, 779 strikeouts and 253 walks in 136 games.

Based on MLB Pipeline rankings, Martin and Woods Richardson would slot in as the No. 2 and No. 3 overall prospects in Minnesota's organization, between shortstop Royce Lewis and righthanded pitcher Jordan Balazovic.

Martin, 22, played for the American League at the 2021 MLB All-Star Futures Game. He was selected by Toronto in the first round (fifth overall) in the 2020 MLB First-Year Player Draft. The DeLand, Florida native was a crucial player for Vanderbilt's winning 2019 College World Series run.

Woods Richardson, 20, was originally selected as a 17-year-old by the New York Mets in the second round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Kempner (Sugar Land, Texas) High School. He was then acquired by Toronto in a trade that sent starting pitcher and All Star Marcus Stroman to the Mets. Woods Richardson is currently playing with Team USA at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
