Top-seeded Gentry Academy made its state tournament debut a successful one with a 4-1 victory over River Lakes in the Class A quarterfinals on Friday, March 26 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.

Sophomore forward Cara Sajevic scored two goals and assisted on another to send fuel the Stars’ attack that generated 36 shots. Senior forward Angelina Ruiz chipped in a goal and an assist for Gentry Academy (18-2-0), the Section 4A champion.

River Lakes (13-6-2) opened the scoring late in the first period on a goal from senior forward Myckenzie Cramer, but the Stars answered about 90 seconds later on an even-strength goal by sophomore forward Alexa Hanrahan. Savejic gave the Stars the lead for good on a goal just more than four minutes into the second period.
