It looks to be a nice weekend for a getaway, so be sure and plan for a few work zones along the way.
Just south of the Twin Cities, Highway 61 is down to one lane in Red Wing between Bush Street and Fifth Street until Aug. 20. Some changes have been made to the traffic signals in the area in hopes of improving traffic flow.
In Lake City, a detour remains in place along Highway 61. Drivers will be detoured along 10th Street and County Road 9 as part of a larger reconstruction project that continues through this fall. Currently, the project is in Stage 2.
Just west of the metro, Highway 212 is down to one lane near Norwood Young America. Crews will be working between Reform Street and Tacoma Avenue through Sept. 1.
As you head back to the Twin Cities via Interstate 94, a brand-new configuration is now in place in Albertville. Early Friday morning, crews switched the eastbound lanes near County Road 19 over to the westbound lanes. The ramp from Interstate 94 eastbound to County Road 37 is closed as well. The new traffic pattern will stay in place into November.
