Authorities say a driver was taken to a hospital after leading law enforcement on a multi-county pursuit late Friday night.
Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher said officers used a PIT maneuver to stop the driver on Highway 36 near McKnight Road in North St. Paul after the high-speed chase began near Maple Plain just before midnight.
After the driver was stopped, Fletcher said it appeared as though three shots came from inside the suspect's car. The sheriff said two of those shots went through the windshield toward officers and the third injured the driver.
The driver was then pulled from the car and taken to a hospital.
As of Saturday afternoon, authorities said the driver was in critical condition.
