Minnesota BBQ Co. is shutting down its Lowry Avenue location next month, according to a post on social media.

The takeout spot in northeast Minneapolis said on Wednesday that its last day will be Oct. 3. In the meantime, it's offering some limited-edition menu items over the next few weeks.

"After a memorable run serving takeout from our humble abode in NE Minneapolis, Minnesota BBQ Co. is packing up the smoker and closing our doors," the post states.

With a custom-built smoker and a tiny, 800-square-foot building at 816 Lowry Avenue, Chef Kale Thome opened Minnesota BBQ Co.'s brick-and-mortar location in 2019 as an offshoot of Robbinsdale's Travail Kitchen, one of the foremost eateries in the Twin Cities.

Earlier this summer, the restaurant hinted that meat prices were too expensive to keep serving brisket and that it would be transitioning to tacos and other fares.

"Last year when meat prices were Crazy we made the choice to buy 24000lbs of brisket, so we could control our costs. We are at the end of our supply. Briskets are coming down, but still to high for comfort," a July 23 Instagram post stated.
