With our dry weather this month, lake levels across the state are dropping.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is warning people who are trying to get their boats into or out of the water at boat launches.

The DNR says the lack of rain is creating challenges at boat launches across the state this summer and have some tips for boaters:

  • Check the ramp and the water depth.
  • Visit an alternative access site or a different lake or river altogether if water levels are too low to safely launch your boat.
  • Watch for obstructions in the lake, like large boulders or tree stumps.
