Sunday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported two new deaths from COVID-19, as well as 39 more hospitalizations.

So far, 1,965 people have died of the coronavirus in Minnesota, including 1,423 in long-term care and assisted living facilities.


As of Sunday, 248 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 and 123 were in intensive care. To date, 7,163 COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized in Minnesota.

According to MDH, there were 1,318 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests in Minnesota on Sunday, bringing the state's total to 90,017 since pandemic record-keeping began.

A total of 81,336 patients have recovered, or are recovering, and no longer need isolation, according to MDH.

As of Sunday, approximately 1.8 million tests have been completed in Minnesota and 1.3 million people have been tested.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 30.8 million people worldwide and killed about 957,959 people.

About 21.0 million people worldwide have recovered as of Sunday.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.

Note: According to MDH - "Because all data are preliminary, the change in number of cumulative positive cases and deaths from one day to the next may not equal the newly reported cases or deaths."
